My Story
I began my career as a secondary education English teacher for 3 years. I transitioned out of the traditional classroom into a media production specialist role where I designed staff training videos, patient education videos, and other forms of multimedia assets.
I began pursuing instructional design when I realized I could combine both of my passions: teaching and design. From there, I began studying adult learning theories such as the ADDIE model, Mayer’s Principles of Multimedia Learning, and Action Mapping.
While I’m already an expert at Adobe tools such as Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and After Effects, I knew I needed to learn authoring tools like Rise 360. So from there, I quickly picked up that skill and created a portfolio to showcase my first project.
Throughout my professional development, I have learned that my past as an educator has given me hands-on experience identifying learning gaps, writing gap-based objectives, creating content that engages my learners, and analyzing data about learner growth.
When I’m not designing, I’m playing music or spending time in the outdoors camping and hiking.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my journey. I hope you will take a peak at my portfolio under the “Portfolio” tab at the top of the page.
